Delford "Del" Leske age 91, of Winthrop, passed away Monday, August 17th, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Society in Winthrop.
Funeral Service will be Friday, August 21st, 11:00 A.M. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop with interment in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 20th, from 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Military Honors by the Winthrop Honor Guard.
Obituary
Delford “Del” George Leske was born on February 9, 1924, in Transit Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. He was the son of Fred and Elsie (Hantge) Leske. Delford was baptized as an infant on March 2, 1924, by Pastor George Diemer at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Penn Township, McLeod County, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on April 2, 1939, by Reverend Hans Werner at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn. He received his education at country school.
On December 11, 1944, Delford entered active duty in the United States Army and served his country during World War II. He received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Japan, and the Meritorious Unit Award. Delford was Honorably Discharged on September 11, 1946.
On October 21, 1949, Delford was united in marriage to Irene Trebbensee at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop. After their marriage, the couple resided in Winthrop. He was employed as a Standard Oil Bulk Driver for Trebelhorn Oil for 60 years. They were blessed with one daughter, Audrey. Delford and Irene shared 65 years of marriage.
Delford was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop, VFW Post #4078 in Winthrop, Legion Post #314 in Winthrop and the Veteran Club. He served on the church council, Centennial committee and was an usher at the church.
Delford enjoyed hunting, fishing, and old time music. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
When he needed assistance with his daily care, Delford became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Winthrop on June 2, 2015, and passed away there at the age of 91 years. Blessed be his memory.

Wife, Irene Leske of Winthrop, MN;
Daughter, Audrey Rath of Winthrop, MN;
Grandchildren, Alissa Rath of Sveg, Sweden, and Brennen Rath and his wife, Emily of Sartell, MN;
Great-Grandchildren, Owen, Grady, Brynlee and Lilja Rath;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
Delford was preceded in death by his Parents, Fred and Elsie Leske; Son-In-Law, James Rath; Brother, Hilmar Leske; Sister-In-Law, Delores Leske.
