Delores A. Kortz

Obituary

Delores Anne Kortz was born on December 9, 1926, in New Ulm, Minnesota. She was the daughter of George and Wilhelmina (Manderfield) Braun. Delores was baptized as an infant at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm, Minnesota, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax. She received her education at St. Andrew’s Catholic School in Fairfax.

On April 27, 1957, Delores was united in marriage to Hubert Kortz at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax. After their marriage, the couple resided in Fairfax. This union was blessed with three children. She was employed as a cook for 20 years at the Fairfax Community Home and for four years at St. Catholic School. Delores and Hubert shared 34 years of marriage when Hubert passed away on July 11, 1991.

Delores was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax and had served as president as the Ladies Aid, CUF (Catholic United Financial), Christian Mother’s and was the chairman of the St. Andrew’s Mission Group. She was also the past president of the Fairfax Community Home Auxiliary, Fairfax Lioness, the VFW Auxiliary, Fairfax Library, Card Group and Civic League. She had a passion for helping others and enriching lives in the Fairfax community.

Delores enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, quilting, and needlework. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will always remember how her eyes would dance when she was with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Delores passed away on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at her son’s home in Owatonna at the age of 92 years. Blessed be her memory.

Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

Delores was preceded in death by her Parents, George and Wilhelmina Braun; Husband, Hubert Kortz; Brothers, Norman (Lucille) Braun and Howard Braun; Son, Howard Braun; Sisters, Mabel Haala and Florence Helget; Sister-in-law, Elma Braun; Brothers-in-law, Elmer Haala, Linus Helget and Emmet Olson.
