Delores Mae Jochum

Obituary

Delores Mae (Kistner) Jochum was born on December 14, 1929, in Arlington, Minnesota.  She was the daughter of Fredrick and Wilhelmine “Minnie” Kistner.  Delores was baptized as an infant on December 26, 1929, by Rev. Robert Heidmann and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 2, 1944, by Rev. John Bradtke both at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Arlington, Minnesota.  She received her education in Arlington, Minnesota, graduating with the Arlington High School Class of 1948. 

On November 24, 1949, Delores was united in marriage to John Edward Jochum by Father Albert A. Slechta at Father’s home in Glencoe, Minnesota.  Delores and John made their home on a farm south of Glencoe, Minnesota, and then in 1987 after John had passed away, Delores moved to Glencoe.  Their marriage was blessed with five children, Barbara, Mary Ann, Bonnie, Betty and Marilyn.  Delores and John shared over 34 years of marriage until John passed away on September 13, 1984.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Delores helped John on their dairy farm, worked at Green Giant in Glencoe and Hutchinson Technology Inc. in Hutchinson.  She was a member of Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, where she was also a member of the Council of Catholic Women and enjoyed quilting at the church.  Delores belonged to the Senior Citizens Club and various card clubs. 

Delores was a hard worker, very social and always made others feel welcomed.  She enjoyed baking, decorating for every holiday, loved flowers and made sure she had a dessert on hand for anyone that would stop in.  She loved to play cards, specifically “500”.  Delores cherished the time spent with family and friends.

Delores passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at her daughter’s home in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 86 years, 5 months and 27 days.
