Service Information
Donald Lothert, age 76, of Hector, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2015, at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia.
Memorial Service will be Friday, January 16, 2015, at 1:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Hector.
Visitation will be held Friday at Church for two hours prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 A.M.
Military Honors will be provided by the Carl O. Potter American Legion Post 135 of Hector.
Memorials are preferred.
Obituary
Donald Edward Lothert was born July 3, 1938, in Morton, Minnesota, the son of Sylvester and Bethel (Smith) Lothert. He was baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church in Morton, where he was later confirmed in his faith. Don grew up in rural Morton, and received his education at the school in Morton. From 1955 to 1961, Don served his country in the United States Army and also the Army Reserves. He started his working career with his Dad on a cattle farm, and later began working as a mechanic.
Don was united in marriage to Connie Case, and their union was blessed with four children, Donald Jr., Brenda, Rhonda, and Todd. On May 14, 1971, he married Sharon Evenson in Elkton, South Dakota. This marriage was blessed with their son Tad. They made their home in Hector. In 1987 the family moved to Danube where Don owned and operated Don’s Repair. For health reasons, he retired in 1995. During his retirement years, he enjoyed trucking and helping farmers with their fall field work. Don and Sharon returned to Hector in 2011.
Don loved his work as a mechanic for 50 years. In his early Hector days, Don served on the Hector City Council, and was a member of the Hector Fire Department. While in Danube, he was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Danube Lions Club, and had served as the Mayor of Danube. Throughout the years, Don enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially for pheasants and deer. He always enjoyed having coffee with his buddies. Don especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
On Tuesday evening, January 13, 2015, Don passed away at the Renville County Hospital having reached the age of 76 years. Blessed be his memory.
Don is survived by his: Wife, Sharon Lothert, of Hector; Children: Tad Lothert and his special friend Angie of Lake Lillian, Brenda Hapke and her husband Neil of Shakopee, Rhonda Lothert and her special friend Andy of Savage, and Todd Lothert of Lydia; Several Grandchildren; 10 Great-grandchildren; Brother, Dennis Lothert, of Morton; Half-Brother Dave Ingebritson of Rochester; Father-in-Law and Mother-in-Law Marvin and Deloris Evenson of Hector; Several Sisters-in-law and Brothers-in-law; Nieces, Nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his Parents, Son Donald Jr., Sisters Sandy Goblirsch and Diane Lothert-Larsen, Half-Brother Rick Pitts, Nephew David Amaral-Larsen, and Sister-in-law Stacey Franzeen.
