Donald William Kohn, age 95, of Willmar, formerly of Hutchinson, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in St. Cloud.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 9, 2016, at 10:00 A.M. at Dobratz-Hantge Chapel in Hutchinson, with Interment in the Oakland Cemetery.
Gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, May 8, 2016, from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Dobratz-Hantge Chapel and will continue one hour prior to service on Monday.

Obituary
Donald William Kohn was born on October 18, 1920, in Willmar, Minnesota. He was the son of William and Ella (Landberg) Kohn. Donald was baptized and confirmed as an adult on December 15, 1950, at Vinge Lutheran Church in Willmar. He was a graduate of the Willmar High School.
Donald entered active duty with the United States Army on November 3, 1942, at Fort Snelling, Minnesota. He served his country during World War II in Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded a Purple Heart and a Good Conduct Medal. Donald received an Honorable Discharge on November 2, 1945.
On October 25, 1941, Donald was united in marriage to Lorna Thiem from Gibbon, Minnesota at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gibbon. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Jeffrey and Robert. Following their marriage, Donald and Lorna resided in Minneapolis and Willmar before moving to Hutchinson, Minnesota in 1957. They shared 52 years of marriage until Lorna passed away on December 4, 1993. Donald moved to Willmar in 1994.
He began working for 3M in Hutchinson as a Mechanic in 1957 and retired from 3M in 1982. Following Donald’s retirement from 3M, Donald and Lorna spent a few winter months each year in Tucson, Arizona. Donald was a current member of Eagle Lake Church in Willmar and formerly a member of Faith Lutheran church in Hutchinson.
Donald enjoyed many activities outside of work such as camping and working in his shop. He was a very gifted craftsman and enjoyed building and fabricating various things out of metal and wood. Donald especially enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends.
He will be dearly missed.

Grandchildren, Kimberly Hutton and her husband, Chris of Hutchinson, MN,
Patrick Kohn and his wife, Stacey of Hutchinson MN,
JoLynn Kosek and her husband, Josh of Hutchinson, MN;
Great Grandchildren, Colden Hutton, Carson Hutton, Grant Kosek, Gracyn Kosek;
Nieces, Nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Donald is preceded in death by his Parents, William and Ella Kohn; Spouse, Lorna Kohn; Son, Jeffrey Kohn; Sisters, Millie Peterson, Marian Boehner.
