Obituary
Doris “Dori” M. Johnson was born on October 20, 1924, in Minneota, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Chris and Edna (Tortsen) Sigurdson. Dori was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She received her education in Minneota, and was a graduate of the Minneota High School Class of 1942.
On May 13, 1944, Dori was united in marriage to Leonard “Lenny” Gustav Johnson at St. Paul’s Icelandic Church in Minneota, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Douglas and Gary. In 1949, Dori and Lenny moved to Hutchinson where they owned and operated Standard Bulk Oil Company. They moved to Breezy Point, Minnesota in 1965 where they owned and operated the Breezy Point airport and gas station. In 1966 they moved back to Hutchinson where they purchased and operated Tri-County Water Conditioning. Dori and Lenny shared 70 years of marriage until Lenny passed away on October 7, 2014.
Dori worked as a bookkeeper for the businesses that she and Lenny owned and operated. She was a generous, loving and supportive woman who volunteered extensively throughout the community. Dori was involved with establishing the Hutchinson Hospital Auxiliary and served as its President for 34 years. She also served on the Hutchinson Hospital Board, the Hutchinson Hospital Foundation Board, and the First National Bank Board of Directors. Dori was a faithful member of both Bethlehem United Methodist Church and the First Congregational Church.
Dori was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and was extremely proud of her children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments. She was especially pleased with the military service of her son, Doug, and both of his children. Dori had a beautiful voice, and she and Lenny enjoyed singing together in their church choirs and for many weddings and funerals. She also enjoyed collecting antiques, playing golf, and playing bridge with her bridge clubs. Dori cherished the time she spent with her family and friends.

Janice and Christopher Heintz says
So very sad that Chris and I cannot be there for Dori. We will be out of town. Our thoughts will forever be nothing but the best about our dearest friend. Hugs and kisses for her and her family.
Casey Sigurdson Waggoner says
I am so very saddened to hear of Dori’s death. She was a delightful woman who’s love of family and friends was a constant in her life. I take comfort in the thought that she is now reunited with Lenny and Doug. One special memory I cherish is a shopping trip to the cities she planned for me. My mother had died earlier that year, and Dori wanted to make sure I had the appropriate trousseau for my wedding. We had such a wonderful time together. Our “adventure” was over 50 years ago and remains one of my most delightful memories.
