Obituary
Dorothy Adeline Raske was born December 16, 1920, on her parents’ farm in Cedar Mills Township, Meeker County, Minnesota, the daughter of Anton and Agnes (Beckstrand) Adams. She was baptized and confirmed at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cosmos Township. Dorothy grew up on the farm, and graduated from Litchfield High School.
On September 6, 1946, Dorothy was united in marriage to Herman Raske at the Adams family farm. They farmed and raised their children on a farm northeast of Cosmos. She thoroughly enjoyed her life on the farm and actively participated in all the activities of farm life, including driving the tractors, taking care of the animals, and planting and harvesting the garden produce.
Dorothy enjoyed many years as a member of the Belle Grove Hobby Club and as a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Cosmos. She was a quiet and thoughtful person who dedicated her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family members, and friends. Later in life she extended her love to the children she babysat in her home, and many of them adopted her lovingly as their “Grandma.”
On Sunday, June 1, 2014, Dorothy passed away at Cedar Crest of Cosmos, having reached the age of 93 years. Blessed be her memory.
Dorothy is survived by her children: Jeane Paul and her Husband, Grant, of Bloomington, Minnesota, and Larry Raske and his Wife, Karen, of Cosmos; Grandchildren: Erika Maki (Aaron), Sarah Remmel (Shaun), Molly Greenlund (Seth), and Brent Raske (Rachael Johnson); Great-grandchildren: Ethan Remmel, Mia Remmel, Gavin Maki, and Veya Maki; Nieces, Nephews, other relatives, and friends.
We love Dorothy, and we know she loves us.
