Obituary

Dorothy Mae (Messner) Jacobson was born on March 19, 1931, in Cornish Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Walter (Butch) and Florence (Miller) Messner. She was a long-time member of the Apostolic Christian Church in Winthrop.

On March 24, 1953, Dorothy was united in marriage to Loyd (John) Jacobson in Anchorage, Alaska. This marriage was blessed with six children. Dorothy and John lived in Alaska for two years; then moved to Illinois, Texas, back to Illinois and then to Minnesota. They lived in Winthrop before settling in Gibbon, Minnesota. She was a loving homemaker and mother. Dorothy and John shared 52 years of marriage when Loyd passed away on February 2, 2006. She worked many years as a cook at numerous restaurants and Cafés. She also spent her later years cleaning the Gibbon Bank.

Dorothy was very active in her church and enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, and going to coffee with her friends. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

Dorothy passed away peacefully at Bayside Manor in Gaylord on Monday, August 15, 2022, at the age of 91 years. Blessed be her memory.
