Obituary

Dorothy Mabel Anna Schramm was born on May 13, 1923, in Lynn Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Henry and Amanda (Prieve) Tewes and was one of 13 children. Dorothy was baptized as an infant on June 17, 1923, by Pastor G. Fischer and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 14, 1935, by Pastor W.G. Voight, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Acoma Township, McLeod County, Minnesota.  She received her education at the country school in Lynn Township.

On November 23, 1943, Dorothy was united in marriage to Erwin Schramm at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Acoma Township. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Steven and Allen. Dorothy and Erwin resided and farmed in Boon Lake Township until 1965, and later moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota. They shared 38 years of marriage until Erwin passed away on January 2, 1981.

Erwin owned and operated the family business, Schramm Implement, where Dorothy was the “Parts Lady”, from 1966 – 1976. Dorothy in her younger years was employed doing light housekeeping for families and later worked at the Sales Barn in Hutchinson. Dorothy was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, where she was involved in World Relief and helped serve at funeral luncheons. She was also a member of Hutchinson Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered at the Hutchinson Thrift Shop for many years.

Dorothy enjoyed bowling, working on crossword and jigsaw puzzles, tending to her gardens and crocheting. She enjoyed exhibiting her crocheting at the McLeod County Fair and won many ribbons. Dorothy especially cherished spending time with her family, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.

When Dorothy needed assistance with her daily care she became a resident of Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, Minnesota on February 4, 2014. She passed away there on Thursday, January 28, 2016, at the age of 92 years. Blessed be her memory.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her Parents, Henry and Amanda Tewes; Husband, Erwin Schramm; Brothers, Arthur, Walter, Edwin, Fritz, Roy, Willard and Henry; Sisters, Ella, Verna and Elsie.
