Dorothy Mae Niemann

Obituary

Dorothy Mae Niemann was born January 14, 1942, in Hutchinson, Minnesota, the daughter of Frank and Luella (Nielsen) Degner. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hector. Dorothy grew up in Hector, and graduated from the Hector High School with the Class of 1960.

On June 2, 1962, Dorothy was united in marriage to Lylon Niemann at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos. They lived in Hutchinson, Hector, and Washington, until returning to Hector Township where they made their home on the farm. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Kimberly and Lylon.

Dorothy was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hector. She enjoyed doing counted cross stitch projects, and various puzzles, especially Sudoku puzzles. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially when she was gardening or mowing, whether it was with the push mower or the riding mower. Dorothy’s cats were important to her, adding much joy to her life.  

On Monday, October 17, 2016, Dorothy passed away at her home, having reached the age of 74 years. Blessed be her memory.

Dorothy is survived by her:

Daughter, Kimberly Brainard, of Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, and her significant other, Dan Anderson;

Son, Lylon Niemann Jr., of Long Prairie, Minnesota;

Grandchildren: Cody Brainard, Dillon Niemann, Shayla Niemann, and Colton Niemann;

Great-Grandchildren: Lane Niemann and Layla Niemann;

Brothers: Ronald Degner and his Wife, Yvonne, of Franklin, Minnesota, and Larry Degner and his Wife, Nadine, of Lake Lillian, Minnesota;

nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her: Parents, Frank and Luella Degner; Husband, Lylon Niemann; Sister, LaVonne Andree and her Husband, Henry; and by her Brothers, Marvin Degner, LaVerne Degner, Galen Degner, and Donald Degner.
