Dorothy Rieke age 82, of Lake Park, formerly of Fairfax, passed away Saturday, November 21st, 2015 at her home in Lake Park.
A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, November 28th, 11:00 A.M. at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax, with interment in the church cemetery.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Obituary
Dorothy Jean (Thompson) Rieke was born on June 18, 1933, in Madelia, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Henry and Nancy (Nelson) Thompson. Dorothy was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She attended school in Madelia, Minnesota, and was a graduate of Madelia High School. She graduated from Mankato State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics. She taught Home Economics in Litchfield and Waseca before she was married.
On July 5, 1958, Dorothy was united in marriage to Wesley Rieke at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Cairo Township. Dorothy was employed as a substitute teacher for Sleepy Eye Public and GFW. She was employed by Chuck Busch, sewing drapes. Dorothy and Wesley were blessed with two children and they shared 57 years of marriage.
Dorothy was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairfax, the Ladies Guild, Bible Study, Choir, Jesus Cares Ministry and Couples Club. She was an adult leader for 4-H, volunteered at the Treasure House and also belonged to the Fairfax Saddle Club.
Dorothy enjoyed horseback riding, canning, sewing, playing cards, and watching the Minnesota Vikings. She loved spending time at the lake with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.
Dorothy passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015, at her home in Lake Park at the age of 82 years. Blessed be her memory.

Husband, Wesley Rieke of Lake Park, MN;
Children, Laurel Yeager of Chaska, MN, and
Greg (Helen) Rieke Lake Park, MN;
Grandchildren, Emily and Nathan Yeager; Adrian, DeAngelo and Kayla Rieke;
Sisters-In-Law, Irene Rieke of Fairfax, MN, and Violet (Ron) Rosenau of Cosmos, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her Parents, Henry and Nancy Thompson; Sister and Brother-In-Law, Margaret and Paul Scott; Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law, Clarence and Mildred Rieke.
