Uncle Doug was a big part of our lives here in Cedar Valley. He and Bud kept their horses here for a time and were partners in the horse racing business at Canterbury Downs for a number of years, I know they both loved that! Doug was an avid hunter here at the farm in Cedar Valley and was always pretty lucky at bagging a turkey, a deer, not so much!!! We had many memorable family reunions together throughout Minnesota with lots of fun and games and FOOD!!! Tom and Keri thought so much of you too.
Doug is now in heaven with his lovely wife Ruthe, his brothers and sisters and his friend Dave, along with others who have gone before. We’ll miss your annual hunting visits Doug, and I know Bruce will miss the many conversations you two had over the phone(especially about the weather!!!). You were the last of that generation, so now it’s up to us to carry on the traditions. Thanks for being such a special part of our lives, you will be missed.

Doug left a real mark on Hector and Renville County Farmers and Agri-businesses, which I will always be thankful for as well as should the town of Hector! I even replaced Mr. Hoseck as he was called in Hector High School for 7 weeks of FFA leadership training and taught Ag Class and Ag Shop! Just as Doug would have but Doug was out sick with a very bad case of the Mumps, that really kept him down!

My very best to all of Dougs Family, Friends and Students who he truly propelled with the skills needed for a very succesful life, including ME……Alan Roebke (REB-Key)

I am so sorry to now hear of Doug’s passing. I can’t believe it took this long to hear. My deepest sympathies to all of you! Losing a parent is very tough, but to lose 2 makes it so much more agonizing I am sure. I went to the station and had coffee with Doug up until he couldn’t drive any longer. It still amazed me how much and how many of the people he remembered as students, past Hectorites, etc. Honestly, I never had Doug for a teacher, or actually knew him in school, but he was a fun guy to talk to, and he liked to tease.
Ruth spent so much time at our house as I grew up, I am happy they are now together in heaven!! Again my sympathies to all of you!! Keep the memories with you!!
