Douglas Schulte, age 67, of Gaylord passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at his home in Gaylord.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, May 19th, 10:30 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Arlington with interment in the Gaylord Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, May 18, 2015, from 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Arlington. A Prayer Service will be at 8:00 P.M. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Obituary
Douglas Ernest Schulte was born on June 28, 1947, in Montevideo, Minnesota. He was the son of Bernard and Anna Marie (Jaenisch) Schulte. Doug was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith. He received his education in Clara City.
April 16, 1966, Douglas was united in marriage to Linda Hetle at St. Clara’s Catholic Church in Clara City, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple resided in Granite Falls, moved to Arlington in 1971, and then moved to Gaylord. He was employed as a police officer in Arlington and then at the Sibley County Sheriff’s office as Chief Deputy for 25 years. He served as the Sibley County Sheriff for four years. Doug and Linda were blessed with two children. They shared 48 years of marriage before Linda passed away on April 21, 2014.
Doug was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Gaylord and a member St. Michael’s Knights of Columbus for 36 years, where he was a Grand Knight and a Recorder. He was also a member of the Gaylord Fire Department from 1974 through 1997, the Gaylord Rotary, Minnesota Sheriff’s Association, Gaylord Baseball Association and the Sibley County Fair Board.
Doug enjoyed his time at the camper on Rice Lake, was a memorabilia collector, attending all sporting events, enjoyed auctions, traveling to Branson, playing cards and shaking dice with his friends and his hand held electronic solitaire game. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Doug passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at his home in Gaylord at the age of 67 years. Blessed be his memory.

Children, Bill (Stephanie) Schulte of Gaylord, MN, and
Brenda (Librado) Schulte-Vazquez of Gaylord, MN;
Grandchildren, Darian Schulte, Alexander Vazquez, Victoria Vazquez, William Schulte, Lucas Schulte, and Quentin Schulte;
Brother, Robert “Bob” Schulte of Clara City, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
Doug was preceded in death by his Parents, Bernard and Anna Marie Schulte; Step Father, Lenard Daniels; Wife, Linda Schulte; Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law, Earl and Idell Hetle; Brother, John (Lois) Schulte; and Sister, Janice (Wayne) Tammen.
