Duane Nesburg

Obituary

Duane Irvin Nesburg was born on March 12, 1935, in Camp Township, rural Fairfax, Minnesota. He was the son of Irvin and Hazel (Peterson) Nesburg. He was baptized as an infant and confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at Central Lutheran Church. He attended the country school at Camp Township and graduated from Fairfax High School.

Duane served military duty in the United States Army, inducted on March 20, 1958.  He served most of his time in Germany.  He returned home to farm with his father.

On July 29, 1962, Duane was united in marriage to Gwendolyn Westman at Chicago Lakes Lutheran Church in Center City, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with three children, Jennifer, Karen and John. Duane and Gwen resided in the Fairfax area all of their married lives. They shared 59 years of marriage, until Gwen’s death on October 3, 2021.

Duane was known as an outdoorsman who loved dogs, horses, hunting, skiing, photography, travel, biking, fishing, and conservation of the land. He especially loved music, singing and playing his guitar with friends and family. The family was known to sing in the car in 4-part harmony. He was a fun-loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was serious about his hobbies, but he was also known for his sense of humor.

Duane passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023, at South View Senior Living Center in Gibbon, Minnesota, at the age of 88 years. Blessed be his memory.

Great grandchildren, Izzy and Marisa, Cayson and Brynn, Braelynn, Eden, Emryn, and Reece;
Sisters, Wanda Mann and Beverly Thompson;
Brother-in-law, Rollie (Martha) Westman;
Many Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

Duane was preceded in death by his Wife, Gwen Nesburg, Parents, Irvin and Hazel Nesburg, Sister, Muriel Graham; brother, Kenneth Nesburg; and many others who were reunited with Duane in heaven.
