Earl Fitzloff

Obituary

Earl Eugene Fitzloff was born on January 8, 1930, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He was the son of Edward and Martha (Dascher) Fitzloff. Earl was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth.  He received his education in Hutchinson, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1948. Earl furthered his education for two years at the University of Minnesota Agriculture Campus in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

On May 21, 1949, Earl was united in marriage to Fern Tomlinson at the Congregational Church in Hutchinson. This marriage was blessed with six children, Colleen, Gregory, Steven, Sue, Brenda, and Roger. Earl and Fern resided in Hutchinson and also had a home on Lake Washington. They shared 68 years of marriage.

Earl operated the Skelly Station in Hutchinson from 1951 to 1965 and later was an owner operator of the Fitzloff Hardware Store in Hutchinson for 35 years. He retired in 1997. Earl was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson serving in the Church Choir for 52 years, and was also on the Church Council. He was also a member of the Hutchinson Fire Department for 27 years, the Lake Washington Association Board, the Hutchinson City Council for 6 years one of them serving as Mayor, and the Hutchinson Choristers for 40 years.

Earl enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, and watching baseball, basketball, and football games. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.

When Earl needed assistance with his daily care, he became a resident of Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson on February 26, 2016. He passed away there on Monday, December 4, 2017, at the age of 87 years.

Great-Grandchildren, Austin Harper, Everett Fitzloff, Owen Fitzloff, Ivy Harper, Flynn Richards, Rylee Harper, and one to arrive in the spring;
Sister-In-Law, Joan Fitzloff of Buffalo Lake, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Earl is preceded in death by his Parents, Edward and Martha Fitzloff; Sister, Ruth Krumrey and her husband, Arvid; Brothers, Duane Fitzloff, Ray Fitzloff, and Glenn Fitzloff and his wife, Helen.
