Service Information
Earl Wagner, age 99, of Stewart, passed away Saturday, May 13, 2017 at the Buffalo Lake Care Center in Buffalo Lake.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 19, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart, with interment in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday for one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart.
Obituary
Earl Roy Wagner was born February 25, 1918, at his family’s farm home in Collins Township, McLeod County, Minnesota, the son of Rudolph and Amanda Wagner (Doerr) Wagner. He was baptized February 28, 1918 by Rev. C. H. Kowalske at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart, with sponsors Adolph Wagner and Mrs. Jacob Doerr. Earl was confirmed with his class of 12 students by Rev. Kowalske at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart on April 8, 1933. His memory verse was 2 Corinthians 5:15. Earl attended Grades 1 - 8 at Collins District 36, with graduation on June 30, 1934. He continued his education at the Stewart High School, celebrating his graduation on June 2, 1938.
On June 1, 1952, Earl was united in marriage to Arlene Anna Rannow at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson by Pastor Arthur Koehler. They made their home in Preston Lake Township. Earl was a lifelong farmer, and enjoyed raising sheep and chickens. After retiring from active farming, he continued to keep busy on the farm. In September of 2016, Earl moved into the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center. He was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart.
On Saturday evening, May 13, 2017, Earl passed away at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center having reached the age of 99 years. Blessed be his memory.
Earl is survived by his:
Wife, Arlene Wagner, of Stewart;
Brother, Robert Wagner of Glencoe;
Sisters-in-law, Rose Wagner of Hutchinson, Hildegard Wagner of Hutchinson, and Darlene (Lester) Strohschein of Howard Lake;
many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Rudolph and Amanda Wagner, and by his Brothers, James Wagner and Dale Wagner and his wife, Dorothy, Sister-in-law Helen Wagner, and Brother-in-law Myrle Wagner.
