Obituary
Earnie “Moon” Ahrens was born August 10, 1948, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. He was the oldest son of Earnie and Beatrice (Reynolds) Ahrens. Earnie attended school in Morton, Minnesota, and graduated in 1966. Earnie’s number came up in the draft and in May of 1968 he entered the United States Army and served in Vietnam for 14 months. After his Honorable discharge from the Army in 1970 he returned to Morton.
On January 15, 1971, Earnie was united in marriage to Rholony “Loni” Becker at the Fairfax United Methodist Church. After their marriage, the couple resided in Redwood Falls, Morton and finally Fairfax so Loni could be closer to her siblings. Earnie worked at various jobs in Hutchinson, Redwood Falls and Morton, but his true passion was driving semi. He worked for Larry Schefus Trucking driving over the road from coast to coast for 14 years and later drove for Central Bi-Products for 25 years until his retirement.
Earnie and Loni enjoyed their dogs very much; heir Shih Tzu’s Susie, Shiloh, Willy and Buttons “Butts” were like children to them. After Loni’s passing in 2023, Earnie and Buttons were virtually inseparable. Earnie enjoyed visits from his brothers and sisters-in-law, but one of his favorite things was to just sit on the deck enjoying his time with Buttons. He also enjoyed his friends at Jackpot Junction but as his health got worse, he spent much of his time at home with Buttons.
Earnie was a husband, father, grandfather and recently became a great-grandfather. Finding out he was a great-grandfather put a smile on his face that no-one could take away. He was so proud of his grandchildren. He was a man of few words but the people who knew him well, knew how much he cared about his family and would do anything for them.
Earnie is survived by:
Son, Mike (Kathy) Becker,
