Edna Anna Lund

Obituary

Edna Anna Lund was born on March 22, 1920, at their farm home in Hutchinson Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Soren and Alvina (Fredrickson) Steffenson. Edna was baptized as an infant on May 16, 1920 at Danish Nazareth Lutheran Church in Hutchinson by Reverend H.C. Strandskov. She later confirmed in her faith as a youth on August 13, 1933 at Danish Nazareth Lutheran Church in Hutchinson by Reverend Jon J. Lerager.  She received her education in Hutchinson, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1938. In March of 1939, she furthered her education by attending Brady and Rogers Beauty School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. For a short while, Edna was employed at Munsingware, Honeywell, and JCPenny’s during World War II.

On March 22, 1946, Edna was united in marriage to Orville J. Lund at Main Street (Faith) Lutheran Church in Hutchinson by Reverend N. B. Hanson. This marriage was blessed with two children, Roger and Steven. Edna and Orville resided in Hutchinson. They shared 37 years of marriage together until Orville passed away on September 4, 1983.

Edna was a loving homemaker to her husband and two sons.

Edna was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church and was a member of the Church Women Group. She was also a member of the Hutchinson Hospital Auxiliary and was the chairman of baby cap committee; she knit hundreds of baby caps for the Hutchinson hospital.

Edna enjoyed crocheting doilies, knitting afghans, and sewing quilts and lap robes. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.

When Edna needed assistance with her daily cares, she became a resident of the Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson on March 31, 2017. She passed there on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at the age of 97 years.

Great Grandchildren, Henry Fortun, Scout Fortun, Robert Cheney, and Carter Cheney;
Step-Grandchildren, Michael Palmer and his wife, Kari, James Palmer and his wife, Karna, and Steven Palmer and his wife, Katie;
Step-Great Grandchild, Megan, Makayla, Noah, Zachary, Easton, and Oliver Palmer;
Many other relatives and friends.

Edna is preceded in death by her Parents, Soren and Alvina Steffenson; Husband, Orville Lund (September 4, 1983); and Sister, Ruth Swenson and her husband, Donovan.
