Edwin August Becker

Obituary

Edwin August Becker was born on September 9, 1919, in Glencoe, Minnesota. He was the son of Charley and Alvina (Alsleben) Becker.  Edwin was baptized as an infant on September 28, 1919, by Rev. George Diemer and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on April 9, 1933, by Rev. Hans Nerner both at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Auburn, Minnesota.  Edwin attended country school. 

On September 21, 1941, Edwin was united in marriage to Dorothy Lydia Alice Wendlandt by Pastor Walter Diemer at St. Mathew’s Lutheran Church in Penn Township, Brownton, Minnesota. Edwin and Dorothy made their home on the Becker family farm from 1941 to 1990, when they moved to Glencoe, Minnesota.  Their marriage was blessed with three children, Karen, Errol and Eldon.  Edwin and Dorothy shared over 70 years of marriage until Dorothy passed away on August 21, 2012.

Edwin was a farmer and really enjoyed the animals. He was a faithful member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Auburn, Minnesota, where he served on the church council.  Edwin was also a member of the New Auburn Senior Citizens and volunteered at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care with bingo. 

Edwin enjoyed being on the farm, fishing, hunting and playing cards, especially Sheephead. He cherished the time spent with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

Edwin passed away on December 31, 2015, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 96 years, 3 months and 22 days.
