Service Information
Edwin "Eddie" Liesenfeld age 76, of Winthrop, passed away Sunday, August 23rd, 2015, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, August 26th, 11:00 A.M. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop with interment in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, August 26th, from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service at the church.
Military Honors by the Winthrop Honor Guard.
Obituary
Edwin “Eddie” Henry Liesenfeld was born on March 12, 1939, in New Ulm, Minnesota. He was the son of Edwin and Rosebud (Keute) Liesenfeld. Eddie was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at the Catholic Church in New Ulm. He received his education in New Ulm and Winthrop and was a graduate of the Winthrop High School Class of 1957.
Eddie served his country in the United States Army Reserves. He received his Honorable Discharge on March 31, 1964.
On July 19, 1963, Eddie was united in marriage to Doris Bengson at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Bismarck Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple resided in Winthrop. He was a great husband and father who supported his children and their hobbies. Eddie was employed at Mid-America Dairy for 24 years and worked as a field inspector, retiring in 1995. Eddie and Doris were blessed with two children. They shared 52 years of marriage.
Eddie was in a band in the 1960’s, “The Four Squares”, a Winthrop old tyme band.
Eddie was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop, a life member of the Winthrop American Legion Post #314, the Winthrop Fire Department for 40 years, and served seven years as the Fire Chief.
Eddie enjoyed golfing, hunting, playing cards, horseshoes, fishing, and making chicken on the grill. He loved woodworking and making mosquito houses. He loved watching his son, Chuck play high school football; Eddie was a member of the Quarterback Club. Eddie enjoyed spending time at his daughter, Lori and her husband, Mark’s hobby farm near Becker. He had a close relationship with his daughter, Lori. Eddie was always a jokester and loved to make people laugh. He liked to have a good time at the Fireman’s dances and polka dances. He was a loving and caring person. Eddie loved spending time with his family.
When he needed assistance with his daily care, Eddie became a resident of Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord on January 4, 2013, and passed away there on Sunday, August 23, 2015, at the age of 76 years. Blessed be his memory.

Wife, Doris Liesenfeld of Winthrop, MN;
Daughter, Lori Bennett and her husband, Mark of Becker, MN;
Grandchildren, Angela Richardson and Melissa Liesenfeld;
Sister, Carol Hurdelbrink of Thornton, CO;
Nieces, Linda Torgerson and Lisa Hurdelbrink, and Nephews, Bob Bengson and John Hurdelbrink; other relatives and friends.
Eddie was preceded in death by his Parents, Edwin and Rosebud Liesenfeld; Sister, Lois Ayers; and Son, Charles “Chuck” Liesenfeld.
