Edwin John Mamer Jr., age 60, of Napa, California, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, at the Kaiser Permanente Vallejo Medical Center in Vallejo, California.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 20, 2014, at 10:30 A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hector, Minnesota.
Interment will be held in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Hector.
Military Honors will be provided by the Carl O. Potter American Legion Post 135 of Hector.
Gathering of Family and Friends will begin at 9:30 A.M. on Saturday at Church.
Obituary
Edwin John Mamer, Jr. was born November 21, 1953, in San Diego, California, at the U.S. Naval Hospital Balboa, the son of Edwin J. Mamer Sr. and Ruth E. (Crismond) Mamer. Edwin was baptized as an infant in San Diego, California, and confirmed in his faith as a youth. He was a member of the Boy Scouts while growing up in Washington State and California. Edwin received his education in various catholic schools around the country due to his father’s military service, and graduated from St. James High School in Carneys Point, New Jersey, in 1971.
Edwin served his country in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on December 9, 1975, while stationed at the U.S. Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in Portsmouth, Virginia, as a naval corpsman. Upon his discharge, Edwin lived in Orlando, and then Tampa, Florida, before moving to Buffalo Lake, Minnesota. He then moved west to San Francisco, California, finally settling in Napa, California.
During his lifetime, Edwin lived in San Diego, California, Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands, Newport, Rhode Island, Bremerton, Washington, Chula Vista, California, Newport News, Virginia, Gibbstown, New Jersey, Hampton, Virginia, Orlando and Tampa, Florida, Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, San Francisco, California, and had lived in Napa, California for the last twelve years. He was a Unit Supervisor at the Napa State Hospital in Napa, California.
Edwin passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, in Vallejo, California, having reached the age of 60 years. Blessed be his memory.

Step-Niece, Bridgett Braaten of Minneapolis, Minnesota;
Aunt, Adeline Mortensen of Fairfax, Minnesota;
Uncle and Aunt, Delmar and Irene Mamer of St. Leo, Minnesota;

Edwin is preceded in death by his Mother Ruth E. Mamer, Step-Mother Shirley Mamer, Brother Robert J. Mamer, Sister-in-law Diane J. Mamer, Aunts Merle Mamer and Rosella M. Hoyer, and Uncles Russell Mortensen, Eugene Mamer, and Larry Hoyer.
