Obituary
Elaine Francis Sprengeler was born on July 27, 1934, in Hamburg, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Herbert and Eva (Blood) Bergmann. Elaine was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. She received her education in Norwood Young America, Minnesota, and was a graduate of the Norwood High School Class of 1952.
On June 25, 1955, Elaine was united in marriage to Melvin Sprengeler by Rev. L. T. Wohlfeil at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. The couple made their home on the Sprengeler farm in Plato, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with six children, David, Dan, Deanna, Dean, Mel Jr., and Dale. They shared over 57 years of marriage until Melvin passed away on October 22, 2012.
In her younger years, Elaine was employed at Bongard’s Creamery in Norwood Young America. After Elaine and Melvin married, she stayed home to help on the farm with the cattle, the house, and the children. When all of the children left home, Elaine would often go to the Twin Cities to clean houses. Elaine was a lifelong member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg and served for the ladies' aid and sang in the choir. She was also a member of the women’s auxiliary.
Elaine enjoyed helping Melvin on the farm and assisting him with his various organizations. She loved going to the Minnesota State Fair and attending smaller county fairs as well. She especially cherished time spent with her family and friends.
