Service Information

Elaine H. Berg, age 94, of Shakopee formerly of Winthrop passed away Monday, December 26, 2016, at the St. Gertrudes Health and Rehabilitation Center in Shakopee, Minnesota.

Funeral Service will be Wednesday, December 28, 2016, 2:00 P.M. at First Lutheran Church in Winthrop with interment in the Winthrop Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service at the church on Wednesday.

Obituary

Elaine Harriet Berg was born on April 17, 1922, in Severance Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Harry and Ellen (Whim) Olson. Elaine was baptized as an infant on June 25, 1922, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on November 15, 1936, both at Clear Lake Swedish Lutheran Church, Cornish Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. She received her education at the Country School District 72 in Cornish Township.

On June 28, 1944, Elaine was united in marriage to Milford Berg at Clear Lake Swedish Lutheran Church in Cornish Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple resided in Gibbon, St. Peter for 6 years and in 1951 they moved into Winthrop until 2007 when she moved to Shakopee. She was a loving homemaker and mother. Elaine was employed as a nurse’s assistant and a cook at the Good Samaritan Society in Winthrop. This union was blessed with three children. Elaine and Milford shared 44 years of marriage until Milford passed away on October 22, 1988.

Elaine was a member of First Lutheran Church in Winthrop and the Ladies Aide. She taught Sunday School and led devotions at the Good Samaritan Society in Winthrop.

Elaine enjoyed gardening, playing piano, sewing, and dancing. She always made time to visit and was a good neighbor. Elaine cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Elaine passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016, at the St. Gertrudes Health and Rehabilitation Center in Shakopee, Minnesota, at the age of 94 years. Blessed be her memory.

Elaine is survived by her:
Children,         Gene Berg and his wife, Gwen of Shakopee, MN, and
                          Muriel Kruggel and her husband, Denny of Shakopee, MN;
6 Granddaughters, Jen Berg, Jackie Berg, Sarah Kreykes and her husband, Nathan, Laura Menden and her husband, Jacob, Jena Peterson and her husband, Pete, Ana Kotchevar and her husband, Jason;
8 Great-Grandchildren, Roman, Rocco, and Poppy Kreykes; Evelyn, Wilson, and Franklin Menden; Penny Peterson; Macy Elaine Kotchevar;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by her Parents, Harry and Ellen Olson; Husband, Milford Berg; Son, Arlan Berg; Daughter-In-Law, Pam Berg; Sister, Ione Roeker and her husband, Marty; and Brother, Arlo Olson and his wife, Flo.
