Elda Emily (Kloth) Taylor, age 96, of Norwood Young America, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023, 11:00 A.M., at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America, with interment following in the Mau Cemetery in Norwood Young America.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023, from 10:00-11:00 A.M., 1 hour prior to the service at the church.
Obituary
Elda Emily (Kloth) Taylor was born at her home in Benton Township, Carver County, Minnesota on May 5, 1927, to Peter and Malinda (Bussmann) Brueggemeier. She was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her faith as a youth both at Zion Lutheran Church in Benton Township, Carver County, Minnesota. Elda received her education in Jordan, Minnesota, and graduated with the Jordan High School class of 1945.
Elda was united in marriage to Clifford W. Kloth on June 23, 1948, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America. The couple resided in Norwood Young America on a farm and farmed until 1977. After Elda and Clifford sold the farm, she began working at Bongard’s Creamery in production for a number of years. They were blessed with three daughters, Patricia, Kathy, and Nancy. In 1989, the couple moved to their lake home near Perham, Minnesota. Elda and Clifford shared 40 years together until Clifford passed away on May 28, 1989.
In April 2001, Elda was united in marriage to James “Jim” Taylor at a Lutheran Church in Humboldt, Iowa. The couple resided in Perham, Minnesota. Elda was blessed with two stepdaughters through their union, Judy Egli and Jane Pastour, and their families. The couple shared just under 5 years together until James passed away in February of 2006.
Elda was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America. Elda had a strong faith in her Lord; most especially through the difficult times in her life. Elda was a big supporter of St. John’s Lutheran School, an education based around religion was something she genuinely found important.
When Elda lived on the farm earlier on, she was an avid gardener. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and vegetable gardens. Elda enjoyed crocheting afghans and clothes hangers for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed doing embroidery, playing cards, and winning at Bingo. Elda loved going fishing and enjoyed listening to the birds sing. Elda also loved spending time baking and cooking in the kitchen, she was best known for her delightful cookies. She loved cheering on her Minnesota Twins, as she was quite the avid Twins fan. Elda was grateful to be able to spend the winter months in Texas and cherished time spent with her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
When Elda needed assistance with her care, she became a resident at The Haven in Norwood Young America and later the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. Elda passed away there on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at the age of 96 years. Blessed be her memory.

Elda was preceded in death by her Parents, Peter and Malinda Brueggemeier; First Husband, Clifford Kloth; Second Husband, James “Jim” Taylor; Son-in-law, Maurice VanDuynhoven; Step Son-in-law, Vernon Pastour; Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law.
