Eleanor Ribar

Obituary

Eleanor Francis Ribar was born on November 20, 1917, in rural Browerville, Todd County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Martinek) Vinar. Eleanor was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at the Catholic Church in Browerville.  She received her education through the eighth grade also in the Browerville area.

On June 1, 1937, Eleanor was united in marriage to John Ribar in Browerville. This marriage was blessed with four children, Gary, Gene, Galen, and Gloria. Eleanor and John farmed in the Eagle Bend area before moving to Brownton in 1944. They shared 55 years of marriage together until John passed away on March 24, 1993.

Eleanor was a loving homemaker and performed a home daycare for hundreds of children.

Eleanor was an active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton where she also served as a member of the Ladies Aid.

Eleanor enjoyed cooking and baking special birthday cakes for family members. She also enjoyed reading a good book and traveling. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.

When Eleanor needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson on April 16, 2011. She passed away there on Monday, November 27, 2017, at the age of 100 years.

Nieces, Nephews, and many other relatives and friends.

Eleanor is preceded in death by her Parents, Joseph and Mary Vinar; Husband, John Ribar; Daughter-In-Law, Susan Ribar; Granddaughter, Theresa Stand; and Siblings, Ray Vinar, Elmer Vinar, Leo Vinar, Rex Vinar, Ed Vinar, Joseph Vinar, Mildred Bedner, Erma Myers, Richard Vinar and his wife, Dorothy, and Jim Vinar.
