Elizabeth Ann Howe, age 105, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at GlenFields Living With Care in Glencoe.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 6, 2021, at 9:30 A.M. at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe with interment following at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 5, 2021, from 4:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. at Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.
Obituary
Elizabeth Ann Howe was born on May 3, 1916, at home in Rich Valley Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Joseph and Emily (Svoboda) Fiala. Elizabeth was baptized as an infant and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Silver Lake, Minnesota. She received her education at country school through eighth grade and furthered her education at Silver Lake High School in Silver Lake.
On August 28, 1945, Elizabeth was united in marriage to Jesse Howe at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Silver Lake. Elizabeth and Jesse made their home in Glencoe. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Dean, LaRoyce, and JoLene. Elizabeth and Jesse shared 37 years of marriage together until Jesse passed away on August 23, 1983.
Elizabeth was employed as a secretary for Continental Airlines in San Diego, California, for four years during World War II. She also worked in the sales department at Bruns Fabric Store in Glencoe. Elizabeth and Jesse owned and operated Howe Brothers Hardware Store in Glencoe. Elizabeth retired in 1978.
Elizabeth enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking, shopping, traveling and going on many cruises. She also enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge! Family was very important to Elizabeth and she treasured the time spent with family and her friends.
Elizabeth passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2021, at GlenFields Living with Care in Glencoe, Minnesota.

JoLene Marcus and her husband, Peter, of Southborough, MA;
Grandchildren, Angela Loche and her husband, Nate, Paul Kranz and his wife, Lani, Lauren Moores and her husband, Brian, Jill Smith and her husband, Reed, Matthew Marcus, Melissa Howe, Jesse Howe and his wife, Rachael, and Abbie Howe;
Great Grandchildren, Nadia Loche, Nathan Loche, Leif Kranz, Lucy Kranz, William Moores, James Moores, Jocelyn Moores, Grayson Smith, Lincoln Smith and Paxton Howe;
Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her Parents, Joseph and Emily Fiala; Husband, Jesse Howe; Son, Dean Howe; Sisters, Helen Tupa and her husband, Alfred, Martha Libra and her husband, Howard, Emily Portele and her husband, Jim; Brothers, Francis Fiala and his wife, Ethel, Leonard Fiala and his wife, Frances; Son-in-law, Douglas Kranz.
The family would like to thank the staff at GlenFields Living With Care for the care and compassion they showed to Elizabeth and her family over the five years that Elizabeth lived there. Your thoughtfulness and kindness will always be remembered.

LaRoyce, my sympathy to you and Jolene and families. My Aunt, Delores Schroeder was a close friend of your Mother. I guess they traveled to California when young ladies. Delores just celebrated her 99th birthday on July 30. Lovely ladies.

Losing your Mom, no matter the age, is so difficult. My heart hurts for all of you as I know how much you loved her.

An example for all of us to live our lives with love for family and friends and starting each day with a positive attitude . Also playing bridge and going to the casino .
