Service Information
Elmer Schulz, age 91, of Gaylord formerly of Winthrop passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord.
Funeral Service will be Sunday, January 5, 2020, 2:00 P.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville, Dryden Township, Sibley County, Minnesota, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church on Sunday.
Obituary
Elmer Robert Schulz was born on January 1, 1928, in Transit Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. He was the son of Herman and Martha (Zachow) Schulz. Elmer was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville. He received his education at Transit Township Country School.
On September 22, 1946, Elmer was united in marriage to Elsie Lindeman at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Transit Township retiring in 1995. Elmer and Elsie were blessed with four children. They shared 70 years of marriage before Elsie passed away on December 20, 2016.
Elmer was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville.
Elmer enjoyed working on the farm, playing cards, fishing, watching sports on TV, woodworking and BINGO at Oak Terrace. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
When he needed assistance with his daily care, Elmer became a resident of Oak Terrace Health Care Center on May 1, 2015, and passed away there on December 31, 2019, at the age of 91. Just hours away from his 92nd birthday. Blessed be his memory.

children, Allan Schulz and his wife, Sharon of Cologne, MN,
Daniel Schulz and his wife, Catherine of Alamogordo, NM,
Marlo Schulz and his wife, Gail of Waite Park, MN, and
Jerilyn Honl and her husband, Gary of Gaylord, MN;
grandchildren, Tim Schulz, Jonathan Schulz and his wife, Becky, Robert Schulz, Susan (Schulz) Pilkenton and her husband, Rob, Kimberly (Honl) Hoosline and her husband, Jacob, and Patrick Honl and his wife, Nicole, Paul Anderson and his wife, Gina, and Jay Anderson;
8 great-grandchildren;
many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Martha Schulz; wife, Elsie Schulz; sister, Grace Hass and her husband, George.
