Eloise M. Dammann – RESCHEDULED

Obituary

Eloise Marie Dammann was born on January 4, 1937, in Glencoe, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Herbert and Esther (Gruenhagen) Mackenthun. Eloise was baptized as an infant at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Helen Township, McLeod County, Minnesota, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. She received her education in Glencoe and was a graduate of the Glencoe High School class of 1955. She furthered her education at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, for two years in Education.

On June 19, 1960, Eloise was united in marriage to Orlin Dammann by Reverend Carl Plocher at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Helen Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. Eloise and Orlin made their home on the Dammann family farm in rural Norwood, Minnesota, until 2013 when they moved to Glencoe, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with one son, Jerrod. Eloise and Orlin shared over 54 years of marriage when Orlin passed away on May 11, 2015.

Eloise taught school for a few years, in Ann Arbor, MI, then transferred to St. John’s parochial schools in rural Plato before she married Orlin and became a farm wife. Throughout those years, Eloise also worked as a cook at NYA Public Schools and at a local deli. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Plato.

Eloise enjoyed reading, playing cards, and traveling. She was a member of a homemaker’s group and loved her social circle. She cherished the time she spent with her family and friends, especially her grandsons.

Eloise moved off the farm to Glencoe and made her home at Grand Meadows Senior Living. When she needed assistance with her daily care, Eloise became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Arlington, Minnesota, and passed away there on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at the age of 85 years.

Nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Eloise was preceded in death by her husband, Orlin Dammann; parents, Herbert and Esther Mackenthun; parents-in-law, Henry and Viona Dammann; brother, Loren Mackenthun; sister-in-law, Luella Kendall.
