Elroy E. Bargmann

Obituary

Elroy Edwin Bargmann was born on June 22, 1929, in Glencoe, Minnesota. He was the son of Edwin and Martha (Brelje) Bargmann. Elroy was baptized as an infant on July 7, 1929, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on April 18, 1943, both at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. He received his education through the eighth grade in Glencoe. 

On January 17, 1952, Elroy was united in marriage to Marcella Tabbert at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Fernando, Minnesota. Elroy and Marcella resided on the Bargmann family farm in Glencoe. The couple shared 51 years of marriage before Marcella passed away on May 9, 2003.

Elroy took care of the family farm his entire life, taking great pride in it, from milking the cows twice a day to harvesting the crops on a late fall night….he decided never to retire. He looked forward to finishing up the harvest seasons and turning over the fields with the plows. Elroy was a lifelong member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, serving as a deacon and serving on multiple boards. He was a member of the Minnesota Brown Swiss Association for a number of years, serving as the vice president and years later as the president.

Elroy enjoyed farming, driving the gator, and checking out the fields. He enjoyed fishing, listening to music, and playing sheephead. Elroy especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, and friends.

Elroy passed away on Monday, November 7, 2022, at his home in Glencoe, at the age of 93 years.

Elroy is preceded in death by his Parents, Edwin and Martha Bargmann; Wife, Marcella Bargmann; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Henry and Selma Tabbert; Infant daughter, Joyce Bargmann; Brother-in-law, Ron Parpart; Son-in-law, Michael Hartmann; Marcella’s sisters and brothers.
