Obituary

Elvira Christina Luise Arlt was born on August 18, 1920, at home in Glencoe Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Fred and Louise (Nelson) Arlt. Elvira was baptized as an infant on October 10, 1920, and confirmed as a youth on June 17, 1934, both at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota by Rev. E. Kolbe. She received her education in Glencoe.

On October 15, 1938, Elvira was united in marriage to Alfred Exsted at the First Lutheran Parsonage in Glencoe, Minnesota by Rev. Streufert.  Their marriage was blessed with three children, Kenneth, Shirley, and Glorian.  The couple made their home in Biscay for 13 years, then Plato for 13 years and eventually settled in Glencoe. Elvira and Alfred were happily married for 69 years until Alfred’s passing on July 2, 2008.  Elvira worked at the Glencoe Hospital for many years in the laundry department. She also enjoyed helping out at  PlaMor Ballroom in Glencoe when she could.

Elvira enjoyed spending her time embroidering, listening and dancing to polka music, and taking a gamble with Bingo and Pull-tabs. Elvira was a loving mother to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and cherished the time she spent with them all.

Elvira passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 9, 2022, at GlenFields Living With Care in Glencoe, at the age of 101 years. Blessed be her memory.
