Erma M. Steinle

Obituary

Erma Mae Steinle was born on November 4, 1924, in Cedar Mills, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Emil and Marie (Kohls) Schroeder. Erma was baptized as an infant at her home and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cedar Mills. She received her education through grade eight at Cedar Mills Country School. Erma also earned some cooking certificates.

On December 8, 1946, Erma was united in marriage to David Andrew Steinle at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cedar Mills. This marriage was blessed with three children, Sylvia, Brenda, and Wanda. Erma and David resided in the Hutchinson area. They shared 52 years of marriage together until David passed away on December 22, 1998.

Erma worked at the Hutchinson High School and Hutchinson Elementary School as a baker, Tonka Toys in Mound, Minnesota, was the head cook at Burn’s Manor Nursing Home in Hutchinson, and also worked at 3M in Hutchinson. Erma’s final place of employment was at the Hutchinson High School as the head baker for many years and retired in 1989.

Erma was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid, Altar Guild, and Choir at Grace Lutheran Church.  

Erma’s passion was cooking and baking; she loved to feed people. Erma also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading, playing cards, and going camping with David. Her biggest joy in life was her grandchildren whom she loved dearly.

When Erma needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident of Harmony River Living Center on April 13, 2011. She passed away there peacefully on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at the age of 92 years.

Erma is preceded in death by her Parents, Emil and Marie Schroeder; Husband, David Andrew Steinle; Brother, Myron Schroeder; Niece, Diane Menth; and Brother-In-Law, Roland Wegner and many other relatives and friends.
