Erna Schwanke, age 89, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Monday, December 25, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2018, 2:00 P.M. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment following at the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 2, 2018, from 12:00-2:00 P.M., two hours prior the service at the church.
Obituary
Erna Alice (Weinkauf) Schwanke was born on May 21, 1928, in Pleasant Mound Township, rural Blue Earth County, to William and Hannah (Urban) Weinkauf. Erna was baptized as an infant in 1928 and was later confirmed in 1942 both at St. John’s Lutheran Church in rural Vernon Center, Minnesota. She attended the Willow Creek German School.
Erna worked for TELEX in Glencoe for 27 years operating various machines in the plant and did cleaning for the First Lutheran church in Glencoe. She enjoyed spending time watching the birds and doing Search-A-Words. What brought the most joy to her was spending time with her family and friends. Erna was a hard worker who always enjoyed Christmas and couldn’t wait to decorate. So, now she is a Christmas Angel.
Erna passed away Monday, December 25, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 4 days.

Erna was preceded in death by her Parents, William and Hannah Weinkauf; Sister, Irma, Brothers, Wilhelm and Waldemar; Daughter, Dianne; Son-In-Law, Wayne Bruesch; Grandson, Jon Alsleben.
