Service Information
Ernest Becker, age 96, of Gaylord passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022, at his daughter’s home in Cleveland, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be Thursday, January 5, 2023, 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville, Dryden Township, Sibley County, Minnesota, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M.-11:00 A.M., ALL at the church on Thursday.
Obituary
Ernest August Becker was born on October 2, 1926, in Penn Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. He was the son of Alfred Sr. and Adeline (Pischke) Becker. Ernest was baptized as an infant on October 24, 1926, and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville.
Ernest entered active military duty on April 17, 1951, and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He received an Honorable Discharge on March 18, 1953.
On June 29, 1954, Ernest was united in marriage to Arleen Kratzke at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nicollet, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple farmed in New Auburn Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. Ernest and Arleen were blessed with three children, Darryl, Deanna and David. They shared 52 years of marriage when Arleen passed away on May 13, 2007.
Ernest was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Mountville, Dryden Township, Sibley County, Minnesota.
Ernest enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, dancing and listening to old time music. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
When he needed assistance with his daily care Ernest moved to his daughter’s home in Cleveland, Minnesota, and passed away there on Friday, December 30, 2022, at the age of 96 years. Blessed be his memory.

Children, Darryl Becker of Maplewood, MN,
David Becker and his wife, Deanna of rural Madison Lake, MN, and
Deanna Biehn and her husband, Tim of rural Cleveland, MN;
Grandchildren, Amanda (Scott) Jaeger, Mike (Victoria) Biehn, Amber (Jeff Gable) Biehn;
Great-grandchildren, Addy, Ella, Briea and Easton Jaeger;
Siblings, Alfred (Marlys) Becker, Harvey (Elaine) Becker;
Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ernest was preceded in death by his Parents, Alfred and Adeline Becker; Wife, Arleen Becker; Siblings, Wilbert (Helen) Becker, Clarence (Selda) Becker, Marlys (Barfknecht) Seil; Brothers-in-law, Daryl Barfknecht, Raymond (Selma) Kratzke, Hank Seil.
