Service Information
Ervin “Snuffy” E. Polzin, age 90, of Winthrop passed away Sunday, October 22, 2017, at the Good Samaritan Society in Winthrop.
Funeral Service will be Thursday, October 26, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop with interment in the Winthrop Cemetery. Military Honors by the Winthrop Honor Guard.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 25, 2017, from 5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
Obituary
Ervin Emil Polzin was born on September 5, 1927, in Bismarck Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. He was the son of William and Emma (Hahn) Polzin. Ervin was baptized as an infant at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth at Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop. He received his education in Winthrop.
On November 24, 1950, Ervin entered active military service and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He received the CID, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Camp Star, and the ACM (Japan) Medals. Ervin was Honorably Discharged on August 24, 1952.
On May 27, 1960, Ervin was united in marriage to Donna Stresemann at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bismarck Township. After their marriage, the couple resided in Winthrop. Ervin and Donna were blessed with three children. He was employed as a Pan Operator at Dairy Farmers of America in Winthrop for 45 years, retiring in 2006, at the age of 79. They shared 57 years of marriage.
Ervin was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop, Winthrop American Legion Post #314 and the Winthrop VFW Post #4078.
Ervin enjoyed fishing and hunting. He cherished the time he spent with family, especially his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his brother, Melvin.
When he needed assistance with his daily care, Ervin became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society in Winthrop and passed away there on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at the age of 90 years. Blessed be his memory.

Grandchildren, Tyler Polzin and his wife, Taylor, Danielle Polzin, Jennifer Jech and her husband, Jordan, Jessica Polzin, Rachel Campion and her husband, Tyler, and Isabella Polzin;
Great-Grandchildren, Ciara Jech and Kathryne Campion;
Sister, Eunice Albright of Burnsville, MN;
Brother, Melvin Polzin of Winthrop, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
Ervin was preceded in death by his Parents, William and Emma Polzin; Sisters, Lucille (Larry) O’Malley and Lorraine (Dennis) Thorn; Sister-In-Law, Betty Polzin; Brother-In-Law, Arthur “Kelly” Albright; Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law, Julius and Ruth Stresemann.
