Erwin Rusch, age 93, of Litchfield, formerly of Cosmos, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at the Meeker Manor Rehabilitation Center in Litchfield.
Funeral Service will be Monday, July 17, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos, with interment in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Monday, July 17, 2017, at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos for one hour prior to the service.

Date of confirmation: May 1, 1938 Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church at Acoma by Pastor W.G. Voigt Erwin attended Acoma parochial school until 5th grade and finished his schooling at District 54 Hutchinson MN.
Erwin was united in marriage to Lila Martha Boelter on September 27, 1946 at Peace Lutheran Church in Cosmos, MN where Lila was a member. They farmed and lived on the Hutchinson parents’ farm place, Corvuso farm, then Cedar Mills, and bought Cosmos farm and lived on that farm until son, Randy, purchased home farm at Cosmos; retiring in 1990 to their home in Cosmos and in 2014 to apartment in Hutchinson MN; and then 2016 Litchfield Ecumen apartment. The marriage was blessed with 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Erwin’s pastime/ hobbies and enjoyment were: his immediate family, grand/great-grand/great- great- grandchildren. He enjoyed fishing, camping, horseshoe games, woodwork, gardening, trips, dancing, smelt fries, and playing cards. Erwin volunteered as a Sunday school board member at St. John’s church near Cedar Mills, and church board for Peace Lutheran church at Cosmos MN.
Erwin was blessed with good health all of his life, except for back /knee/heart surgery and 3 strokes, heart attack May 2017, and slight blindness. His aortic heart valve replacement was in 2014 when he was 90 years old.
Erwin passed away on July 12, 2017 at the age of 93 years at Meeker Manor Nursing Home, Litchfield, with family by his side at that time.

Twin daughter, Carolyn Vollmer and spouse Gary, Litchfield MN; children/grandchildren: Greg and spouse Tracy, Jason Vollmer and fiance Julie, Missie Koenig and spouse Jim; great-grandchildren: Alexa, Jordan, Zachary, Brandon, Spencer; great-great-grandchild, Jacob;
Daughter: Janice Stockmann and spouse Jim, Hutchinson MN; children/grandchildren: Chad and spouse Wendy, Tammi Grundhoefer and spouse Joe, Mitch; great-grandchildren: Trevor, Jessica, Taylor, Megan;
Daughter: Julie Egge and fiance Don Nelson, Lake Lillian MN; children/grandchildren: Crystal, Heather and friend Brent, Jonathan and spouse Shannon, Nick and Chanda, Dan and Jenn; great-grandchildren: Cullin, Afton, Ariel, Andi, Marcellus;
Son, Randy Rusch and spouse Joanne; children/grandchildren: Cody and fiance Bernadette, Carly; great-grandchildren: Corealine, Kenny.
Erwin is also survived by his nieces, Sharon and Skip Sustacek, and Sandy and Byron Wacker; sisters-in-law Esther Wendorff, and Lilly Kaping and her spouse Donnie; brother-in-law Orville Boelter and his spouse Helen; plus other nieces and nephews and their spouses.
Preceded in death by: parents Emil and Emma Rusch; son-in-law Kenneth Kruse; their two infant children, Lisa and baby boy at birth; sisters Myrna Schultz and Joanne Krueger; grand-niece Lori Sustacek. Other relatives preceding him in death were: brothers-in-law: Jim Schultz, Alvin Krueger, Edwin/Lorena Boelter; nephew David Boelter; Adeline/Raynard Johnson; niece Betty Johnson; Raymond Boelter; Clarence/Arlene Boelter; niece Bonnie Boelter Benson, a favorite niece who passed away five years to the day before Erwin; Elmer Wendorff; niece Joan Kaping; infant girl Boelter; and camping buddy Gil Hanson.
Following the service Erwin’s body will be laid to rest in the Peace Lutheran church cemetery where it will await the glorious day of resurrection.
