Eugene Charles Litzau, age 87, of Glencoe, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, Minnesota.
Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 28, 2022, 11:00 A.M. at the Church of Peace in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment following at the Glencoe City Cemetery in Glencoe.
Gathering of Family & Friends will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, Minnesota and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Military Honors by the Glencoe Military Honor Guard.
Obituary
Eugene Charles Litzau was born on May 27, 1934, in Glencoe, Minnesota. He was the son of Paul and Edna (Scheidegger) Litzau. Eugene was baptized as an infant in June of 1934 and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. He received his education at District #65 Country School and his GED in the Army.
On October 16, 1956, Eugene entered active military service and served in the United States Army. He achieved the rank of SP4-E4. Eugene received the Marksman (Rifle Cal 30) Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was Honorably Discharged on October 31, 1962.
On August 11, 1956, Eugene was united in marriage to Wanda Rohrbeck at St. Matthew’s United Church of Christ in Forest City, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple resided in Glencoe. Eugene was employed at Ide Trucking Company until 1962. He then proceeded to be the tire shop manager at Sam’s Tire Shop and AMPI for many years. Finishing out his working career as a parts delivery driver at Auto Value, he truly showed what it was to be a hard worker. He retired in 2010. Eugene and Wanda were blessed with three children, Lynne, Eugene Jr., and William. They shared 65 years of marriage.
Eugene was a member of the Church of Peace in Glencoe.
Eugene enjoyed camping and doing the repairs on the family vehicles. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
When he needed assistance with his daily care, Eugene became a resident of Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson and passed away there on Friday, January 21, 2022, at the age of 87 years. Blessed be his memory.

Eugene Litzau Jr. and his wife, Michelle of New Prague, MN,
William “Bill” Litzau and his wife, Mary of Plato, MN;
Grandchildren, Casey Reinitz, Benjamin Litzau, Nicholas Litzau, Alexander Litzau, Katlyn Cross, Kassidy Cross, Jacob Litzau, Leah Litzau;
Sister, Sharon Mielke and her husband, Alan of Biscay, MN;
Brother, Richard Litzau of Lake Lillian, MN;
Sisters-in-law, Audrey Litzau of Lester Prairie, MN, and Janette Litzau of Litchfield, MN;
Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Eugene was preceded in death by his Parents, Paul and Edna Litzau; Grandson, Jonathan Reinitz; Siblings, Allen Litzau, Darrell Litzau, John Litzau, Donald Litzau, Elizabeth Matthews, David Litzau, and Ronald Litzau; Sister-in-law, Sharon Litzau.
