Eugene H. Birkholz, age 87, of Winsted, formerly Lester Prairie, Minnesota, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at The Gardens at Winsted in Winsted, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be held Monday, March 10, 2025, at 11:00 A.M, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, with interment following in the St. James Lutheran Cemetery in Howard Lake, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 10, 2025, from 10:00-11:00 A.M., one hour prior to the service at the church.

Obituary
Eugene Howard Birkholz was born on September 8, 1937, at home on a farm in Victor Township, Wright County, Minnesota. He was the son of George and Harriet (Salter) Birkholz. Eugene was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at St. James Lutheran Church in Howard Lake, Minnesota. He received his education in Howard Lake and graduated from Howard Lake High School.
Eugene entered military service with the United States Air Force on March 1, 1957. He was presented with the Good Conduct Medal in February of 1960. Eugene received an honorable discharge on February 28, 1961.
Eugene was born and raised on a farm near Howard Lake, Minnesota. Eugene returned home from his service with the U.S. Air Force, and shortly thereafter he moved to St. Louis, Missouri, where he made his home for over 30 years.
Eugene was employed by Western Union in St. Louis, MO, as a teletype operator for 30 years. After that he moved back to Minnesota and made his home in Lester Prairie.
Eugene will be remembered as a quiet, hard-working, and friendly man. He loved to travel and go on vacations when given the opportunity.
Eugene passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at The Gardens at Winsted in Winsted, Minnesota, at the age of 87 years, 5 months, and 27 days. Blessed be his memory.

Siblings, Virginia Banke of Lester Prairie, MN, Garland Birkholz of Winsted, MN;
Nieces and Nephews, Timothy Banke, Marilyn Pikal and her husband, Thomas, and Justin Banke;
Other Relatives and Friends.
Eugene was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, George and Harriet Birkholz; Brother-In-Law, Harold Banke.
