Service Information
Eva Kloempken, age 106, of Cosmos, formerly of Hector and Willmar, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2015, at Cedar Crest of Cosmos.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, February 14, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. at the First Lutheran Church in Hector, with Spring interment in the Hector City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Hughes-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hector, with the Order of Eastern Star Service beginning at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Memorials requested to Second Chance for Life, and the Masonic Cancer Hospital.
Obituary
Eva Louise Kloempken was born October 27, 1908, in Winthrop, Minnesota, the daughter of Herman and Emilie (Witt) Bubolz. She was baptized on December 15, 1908 and confirmed in her faith on April 13, 1924. Eva grew up in Winthrop, and graduated in 1928 from the Winthrop High School. She continued her education at the University of Minnesota, and graduated in 1931 with a B.S. in nursing. She worked at Northern Pacific Hospital in St. Paul.
On September 15, 1932, Eva married Diedrick Kloempken in Rapidan, Minnesota. They made their home in Hector where they raised three children, Mary, David, and Kathleen. Eva worked at the hospitals in Olivia and Glencoe. Eva and Dick shared 68 years of marriage before Dick passed away in 2001.
Eva was a member of First Lutheran Church in Hector. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #55 for 50 years plus, and served as Worthy Matron for many years. Eva was also involved with the Red Cross.
Eva traveled all over the world. She enjoyed sewing, and her handiwork won blue ribbons at the county fair. Eva loved her family, and cherished her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
On Thursday afternoon, February 5, 2015, Eva passed away at Cedar Crest in Cosmos, having reached the age of 106 years, 3 months, and 9 days. Blessed be her memory.
Eva is survived by her:
Daughters: Mary Silker and her husband Don of Hector, and Kathie Zimmer of Olivia;
Grandchildren: Karen (Larry) Raske, Penny Jo (Don) Peterson, Peter Silker, and Amy Jo (Larry) Berke;
Great-Grandchildren: Sarah (Shaun), Molly (Seth), Brent (fiancé Racheal), Andy, Cassie, Rachel, Emily, Matthew;
Great-Great-Grandchildren: Ethan and Mia;
Half-Sister Rose Muller of Cambridge;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Eva was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband Diedrick, Son David, Granddaughter Sarah, Son-in-law Del Zimmer, two brothers, one sister, and two half-brothers.
