Evelyn was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in her faith as a youth both at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Hancock, Minnesota. Evelyn grew up in Hancock, and received her education in Hancock and graduated with the Hancock High School class of 1953.
On November 27, 1976, Evelyn Mae (Andersen) Oltman was united in marriage to Omer Wayne Templin at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Minnesota. Evelyn and Omer made their home in Glencoe, Minnesota. They shared over 42 years of marriage when Omer passed away on July 10, 2019.
In Evelyn’s earlier years, she worked at various pharmacies around the area. Some years later, Evelyn and Omer took on the great task of building the “Super 8 Motel” in Glencoe. They worked alongside one another for many years; building it and managing the day-to-day operations once it was built. Evelyn was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
Evelyn loved to go out and about, whether it was to enjoy a good meal or to catch up with old friends; she looked forward to it all the same. She enjoyed cheering on the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings. Evelyn always said each one of her children played a special role in her life, and she greatly cherished the time she got to spend with them and the rest of her family.
