Service Information
Evelyn Arndt, age 102, of Hector, passed away Friday, January 31, 2014, at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Funeral Service will be Thursday, February 6, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hector.
Interment in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Hughes-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hector, and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the Church on Thursday.
Obituary
Evelyn Verona (Lindberg) Arndt was born November 28, 1911 in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Oscar and Elsie (Klitzke) Lindberg. She was baptized December 30, 1911, and later confirmed on May 16, 1926, at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake.
On September 19, 1934, Evelyn was united in marriage to Walter J. Arndt of Hector. They were blessed with two children. They resided on the family farm in Hector Township. Walter passed away on March 16, 1974. Evelyn continued to live on the farm until she was 98½ years old when she moved into the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Evelyn helped Walter on the farm and enjoyed her role as homemaker. She also worked for a time at the telephone company, and as a waitress at the restaurant. She was a hard worker, and always had a smile on her face. Her good sense of humor will always be remembered. Evelyn was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hector. She was active with the prayer chain, and belonged to the Esther-Lydia Circle.
Evelyn is survived by her Son, Lairus Arndt and his Wife Goldie of Uniontown, Kansas,
nine Grandchildren, and her many Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by her Brother, Leonard Lindberg, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Husband Walter, Daughter Lynnette Marie, two sisters, and one brother.
