Faye Hauer, age 98, of Hector, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017, at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center in Buffalo Lake.
Memorial Service will be Saturday, September 2, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at the Hughes-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hector.
Interment will be held in the Hector City Cemetery next to her husband, Ted.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be Saturday, September 2, 2017, from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Hughes-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hector.
Obituary
Faye Victory Catherine Hauer of Hector was born October 18, 1918 in Hector. She was the fourth child and first girl of William Harrison Schiebel and Elizabeth Catherine (Teich) Schiebel. She was baptized and confirmed in the Hector United Methodist Church. She received her education in Hector. She was a member of a lodge called the Royal Neighbors of America and the Girl Scouts. She married Ted Hauer on October 22, 1936 in the parish house by Father Ettel. Joe Rusk and Fanny Hauer stood up for them at the wedding. Ted and Faye shared 76 years of marriage and raised 12 children. Ted passed away on February 27, 2013.
Besides raising 12 children, Faye and Ted owned Buck’s Café in Hector from 1953 to 1957. She enjoyed being with family and friends, playing cards, and bingo until her final day. She was the organizer and participant in the Kitchenette Band in which they played on pots and pans at many surrounding communities. When she needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident of the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center in 2012.
Faye passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 12 at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center at 8:40 a.m. at the age of 98 years, 9 months and 25 days. Funeral service will be at the Hughes-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hector. Family and friends are invited to share their thoughts and prayers one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Duane (Kathy) Hauer of Hector,
Bob (LeAnn) Hauer of Canon City, CO,
Virginia (Fred) Alberts of Hutchinson, and
Gary (Becky) Hauer of San Tan Valley, AZ;
36 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren, 41 great-great-grandchildren;
nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Faye was the last surviving child of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Elizabeth, brothers Lloyd, Harold ‘Shorty’ and his wife Vernie, Harlan ‘Harley’ and his wives Bessie and Opal, and Ray ‘Bud’ and his wife Viola, sisters Helen ‘Toots’ and her husband Gaylord, Elizabeth ‘Snookie’ and her husband Eugene, and one son-in-law, Arnold Greiner, husband of Luella.
