Francis “Frank” Steinbach, age 76, of Fairfax passed away Monday, July 3, 2023, at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, July 7, 2023, 11:00 A.M. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax with interment in the church cemetery.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Military Honors by the Fairfax Honor Guard.
Obituary
Francis “Frank” Edward Steinbach was born on September 17, 1946, in New Ulm, Minnesota. He was the son of Herbert and Catherine (Liebl) Steinbach. Francis was baptized as an infant at the Church of St Willibrord's in Gibbon and was later confirmed in his Catholic faith as a youth, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax. He received his elementary education at St. Andrew’s Catholic School in Fairfax and was a graduate of the Fairfax High School Class of 1964. Frank furthered his education at Willmar Vocational College for insurance adjuster. Throughout his lifetime, Frank resided in New Ulm, Litchfield and Fairfax.
On December 10, 1965, Frank entered active military service and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He received the Vietnam Service Medal, Expert (Pistol), Sharpshooter (Rifle) Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Frank was Honorably Discharged on December 9, 1968, having achieved the rank of SP5(T).
Frank was employed at Kraft Foods in New Ulm.
Frank was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax and the Disabled American Veterans.
Frank enjoyed buying and selling collectibles and antiques, fishing, going to auctions and family events. He loved baseball, especially the Minnesota Twins and his and Ryan’s dog, Shay.
When he needed assistance with his daily care, Frank became a resident of Gil-Mor Manor Nursing Home in Morgan and then he moved to Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm in 2021. Frank passed away on Monday, July 3, 2023, at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm at the age of 76 years. Blessed be his memory.

Children, Timothy Steinbach and his wife, Christy of St. Cloud, MN, and
Tricia Steinbach and her husband, Scott Norton of Champlin, MN;
Grandchildren, Trey Steinbach and Ashleigh Steinbach;
Brothers, John Steinbach and his wife, Mary of Redwood Falls, MN, and Jerome Steinbach and his special friend, Mary Bauman of Fairfax, MN;
Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Francis was preceded in death by his Parents, Herbert and Catherine Steinbach; Son, Ryan Steinbach; Brother, Phillip Steinbach.
