Service Information
Gail L. Popp, age 89, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, December 18th, 2016, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 31, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Hutchinson, with interment in the Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 30, 2016, from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. and Saturday, December 31, 2016, from 8:00 A.M. to 9:00 A.M. at the Dobratz-Hantge Chapel in Hutchinson and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Obituary
Gail Lorraine Popp was born on October 3, 1927, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Walter and Thelma (Doring) Froemming. Gail was baptized as an infant on February 19, 1928, at her grandparents’ home in Acoma Township, McLeod County, Minnesota, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She received her education in the Cedar Mills and Dassel, Minnesota area, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1945.
On May 29, 1948, Gail was united in marriage to Willard Popp at Bethlehem Evangelical United Brethren Church in Hutchinson. This marriage was blessed with two children, Gregg and Randall. Gail and Willard resided and farmed on the Popp family farm, and later developed a wood pallet business where Gail was the bookkeeper, in Acoma Township. Gail and Willard shared 41 years of marriage before Willard passed away on October 27, 1989.
Gail was employed at Honeywell for three years and JC Penney’s for 40 years. She retired in 1996. Gail was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Hutchinson, where she taught Sunday School and held many leadership positions including church trustee. She was also a member of the Hutchinson Hospital Auxiliary, the Farm Bureau, Polka Lovers of America, and card clubs.
Gail enjoyed entertaining in her home. She loved to cook and bake; her specialties were Poppy Seed Cake and Holiday Cookies, which she often brought to church; she also loved to cook at the church activities. Gail was very organized and read the newspaper every day. She also enjoyed old time dancing at the Pla-mor Ballroom in Glencoe, Minnesota, playing cards, and traveling to Branson, Missouri and Hawaii. Gail always made time for her monthly outings with her siblings. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends and loved to help with the grandchildren and attend their activities.
After Willard passed away, Gail moved to the city of Hutchinson in 1990. She moved to the Ecumen Oaks in Hutchinson in 2008. When Gail needed assistance with her daily cares, she became a resident of the Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson on September 25, 2012. She passed away there on Sunday, December 18, 2016, at the age of 89 years.

Gail is preceded in death by her Parents, Walter and Thelma Froemming; Husband, Willard Popp; Siblings, John Froemming and his wife, Joan, Gay Gloege and her husband, Jim.
