On June 9, 1952, Georgia Johnson was united in marriage to Leo Messner in Nicollet County, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with three children, Tony, Ron and Dixie. Georgia was employed by Gaylord Public Schools as a cook for 31 years, retiring in 1993. Leo and Georgia resided in the Gaylord area until Leo passed away. Then she moved to Winthrop. They served as the World Relief (humanitarian missions) coordinators for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking, entertaining and traveling. Sending our love and prayers to the family! Georgia was a testament to many people, as she had a gift of being thankful for the little blessings in life and was appreciative of things in spite of the trials that she dealt with. Her strong faith and trust in God were so evident to us. Praying for comfort and peace for the family, and also rejoicing that she is now able to run and dance with her new body in eternal glory! The legacy of God’s faithfulness that she displayed is something that can be treasured by all of us.

I have so many memories of staying with Georgia and Leo on their farm. We always had some kind of activity to fill our days with! In the evenings we would all play some kind of game to keep us entertained. Georgia was such a great cook, always had treats for us!
Cindy and I always had a great visit with Dixie and Georgia. Georgia was so proud of her family and especially her great grand children! Many times they would be there when we came.
Donna Meyer says
It was comforting to listen to Aunt Georgia’s service this morning – it felt like being there with all of you to share love and memories. Georgia was very special person, Only Georgia would care enough to visit my Mother nearly every day while she was in assisted living – which meant so much to my Mom and to all of us, I, of course, have many years of memories so I remember Geogia marrying Leo and becoming part of our family, I remember changing many diapers! Always, Georgia was a loving and kind example of how to live life. Condolences from Charles and Donna Meyer
