Gerald "Jerry" Raymond Coles age 73, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, February 8th, 11:30 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Franklin with interment in the Franklin Cemetery.
Visitation will be at 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service on Monday.
Military Honors by the Franklin American Legion.
Obituary
Gerald “Jerry” Raymond Coles was born on December 4, 1942, to Ray and Florentine (Kaluza) Coles.
Jerry entered active military service on January 12, 1961, and served in the United States Army, in the 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles as a Paratrooper. He received the Parachutist Badge; Sharpshooter Badge (Rifle); 1st Class Gunner and 2nd Class Gunner Medals. Jerry was Honorably Discharged on January 10, 1964.
Jerry married to Katherine “Kitty” Hall in September of 1964. They were blessed with three children, Cheryl, Missy and Anjie. Jerry was in the sales industry for many years that lead him and his family out West, then back to the Midwest in the mid-1970s and chose small town living. They purchased the Frankin Depot in 1984. Jerry owned a service station for a few years during this time until its closing. Jerry and Kitty enjoyed their free time together after selling their business in 2008.
Jerry enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and was so proud of each of them. He enjoyed his toys: sports cars, cycles, boats and taking “Miss Kitty” out on the St. Croix River for Family Days (named after his beloved wife). He enjoyed joking around and making people laugh with or at him.
Jerry passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016, at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato at the age of 73 years. Blessed be his memory.
Jerry is survived by his:
Wife, Kitty Coles;
Daughters, Cheryl (Tom) Elsing, Missy Forsyth and special friend, John Gustafson, Anjie (Mike) McCarthy;
Grandchildren, Nick, Sarah, Sam, Kayla, Riley, Caitlin and Nicole;
2 Great-Grandchildren;
9 Siblings and their spouses and families.
Jerry was preceded in death by his Father, Ray and most recently his Mother, Florentine.
