Obituary

Geraldine “Gerry” (Schuette) Peterson was born on November 13, 1934, in Winthrop, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Harold and Norma (Streseman) Schuette. Gerry was baptized as an infant on November 25, 1934, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 20, 1948, by Reverend Kolberg, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Penn Township, McLeod County, Minnesota.

Gerry was united in marriage to Marvin Peterson on March 6, 1951, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Penn Township. After their marriage, the couple resided in Gaylord. This union was blessed with two children, Bonnie and Ronald. She worked side by side with her husband for many years in Marv and Gerry’s Café in Gaylord, and then at the Montgomery Ward Sales Agency in Arlington for 10 years. Then she worked at Lakeview Nursing Home and Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord for 35 years. Gerry and Marvin shared 50 years of marriage before Marvin passed away on January 21, 2002.

Gerry enjoyed quilting, loved the outdoors and had a big garden and lots of flowers. She gave away her produce to family and friends. Her prized house plant was her Christmas Cactus.

When she needed assistance with her daily care, Gerry became a resident of Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord and passed away there on Monday, February 27, 2017, at the age of 82 years. Blessed be her memory.

Gerry is survived by her:
Children,        Bonnie Buyck of Blaine, MN, and
                        Ronald Peterson and his wife, Sue of Seattle, WA;
Grandsons, Michael Buyck, David Buyck, Daniel Buyck and Brandon Peterson;
Sister, Joanne Samuelson and her husband, Sidney of Glencoe, MN;
Nieces, Cousins, other relatives and friends.

Gerry was preceded in death by her Parents, Harold and Norma Schuette; In-Laws, Martin and Edna Peterson; Husband, Marvin Peterson; and Infant Daughter, Kathleen Ann Peterson.
