Glenn Lloyd Novotny was born May 9, 1937, in Willmar, Minnesota, the son of George and Edith (Freberg) Novotny. Glenn grew up in the Hector area, and graduated from the Hector High School. In 1959, he enlisted in the Air National Guard of Minnesota, and was activated into the Air Force Reserves in 1961.
