Helen Fahey, age 81, of Fairfax passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024, at her home in rural Fairfax.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 16, 2024, 11:00 A.M. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 15, 2024, from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax and will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Obituary
Helen Agnes Fahey was born on January 9, 1943, in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Joseph and Victoria (Leonhard) Riederer. Helen was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. She received her education in Sleepy Eye and was a graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic School in Sleepy Eye.
On November 26, 1977, Helen was united in marriage to Sylvester “Bess” Fahey at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. After their marriage, the couple resided in Fairfax. They were blessed with two children, Betsy and Rae Ann. Helen was employed as a nurse’s aide at the Fairfax Nursing Home for 32 years. Helen and Bess shared 40 years of marriage when Bess passed away on June 14, 2018.
Helen was a member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Fairfax.
Helen enjoyed ceramics, baking, cooking, collecting bells, Christmas bears and cookbooks. She cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Helen passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024, at her home in rural Fairfax at the age of 81 years. Blessed be her memory.

Children, Betsy Rieke and her husband, Dan of Fairfax, MN, and
Rae Ann Marti and her husband, Scott of Fairfax, MN;
Grandchildren, Adam Rieke, Tristan Rieke, Hannah Marti, and Keith Marti;
Sister-in-law, JoAnn Riederer of Sleepy Eye, MN;
Brother-in-law, Jim Johnson of Montevideo, MN;
Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her Parents, Jospeh and Victoria Riederer; Husband, Sylvester “Bess” Fahey;
Brothers, Charles (Margie) Riederer, Edward (Lucille) Riederer, John Riederer; Sisters, Rosemary Riederer, Bernadette Johnson; Brothers-in-law, Jerome (Ada) Fahey, James (Pat) Fahey.

Sorry to hear of your families’ loss, I worked in housekeeping at the Sleepy Eye Hospital with Helen, she was my training teacher/ coworker, Helen was always patient and fun, a joy to work with, I was one of the Longworth kids who lived down the block on Rice St., in the early 1970s
