Helen S. Sandlund, age 84, of Glencoe, formerly of Hutchinson, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2018, at GRHS Long Term Care in Glencoe.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. Interment will take place in Oakland Cemetery, Hutchinson.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Saturday, July 14, 2018, from 10:00 A.M. – 11:00 A.M. at Faith Lutheran Church.
Arrangements are with the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson.
Obituary
Helen Sophie Sandlund was born on September 17, 1933, in Glencoe, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Alfred and Esther (Schuette) Luehrs. Helen was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. She received her education through grade 8 in a one room country school house in District 39 in Glencoe. She also attended Hutchinson Vocational (now Ridgewater College) for training.
Helen resided in Glencoe, Litchfield and moved to Hutchinson in the early 90’s. She was employed at the Hutchinson Leader for a period of time and also as an assembler at Goebel Fixtures in Hutchinson for 25 years until she retired on January 4, 1999. Helen was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.
Helen enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and watching television. She also enjoyed going out to eat with friends and recreational gambling. Helen loved her dogs and especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
When Helen needed assistance with her daily care, she became a resident at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care on January 24, 2017. She passed away there on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the age of 84 years.

Helen is preceded in death by her: Parents, Alfred and Esther Luehrs; Siblings, Marvin Luehrs and Edwin Luehrs; Brother-In-Law, Willard “Bud” Schade; Nephew, Ronald Schade and Nieces, Linda Schade and Debra (Luehrs) Wendland.
