Herman Miller, age 75, of Brownton, Minnesota passed away Sunday August 14, 2016, at his home in rural Brownton.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 19, 2016, at 2:00 P.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 18, 2016, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday, all at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton.
Obituary
Herman Eugene Miller Jr. was born on December 21, 1940, in Delhi, Minnesota, (Redwood County). He was the son of Herman Sr. and Viola (Nantke) Miller. Herman was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on May 16, 1954, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota. He received his elementary education at Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School in Brownton. Herman was a graduate of the Southern School of Agriculture at the University of Minnesota in Waseca, Minnesota, Class of 1958.
On November 21, 1959, Herman was united in marriage to Faye Rolf at First Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with three children, Kevin, Mark and Nancy. Herman and Faye resided and farmed in Penn Township in rural Brownton. They shared 56 years of marriage.
Herman was a life-long farmer. He and Faye were happy to live and raise their children on the family farm. Herman was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, where he served in various positions including Chairman of the Congregation. Herman was very active in his community. He was a member of the Brownton Civic & Commerce Association and the Brownton School Board. He served on several board of directors including the Brownton Co-op Ag Center, High Island Watershed and McLeod Planning and Zoning. Herman and Faye felt it was one’s duty to support church and community. This was instilled in their children and grandchildren as well.
Herman enjoyed deer hunting, feeding and watching birds, finding wild asparagus and calling friends and family to just find out “what they were doing today.” He and Faye enjoyed traveling together and their favorite places to visit were Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Madeline Island, Wisconsin. Herman enjoyed picking prairie flowers and often took his grandchildren along to bring flowers home for Faye. In his younger years he loved racing snowmobiles with the Brownton Polar Bears Snowmobile Club. Most of all Herman cherished the time he spent with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Herman passed away on Sunday, August 14, 2016, at his home in rural Brownton, Minnesota, at the age of 75 years. He will be dearly missed.

Harriet Werner and her husband, Wilbert of Redwood Falls, MN;

Herman is preceded in death by his: Father, Herman Miller; and Mother, Viola Nord; Parents-In-Law, Ben and Jenella Rolf; Step Father, Clifford Nord; Step Mother-In-Law, Louise Rolf; Brothers-In-Law, Robert Exsted and David Rolf.
